Sously Terms of Service

Effective 9 September 2026 · Loadcircle Ltd

1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Loadcircle Ltd ("we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of Sously and any related websites, mobile applications, APIs, and services (together, the "Service"), provided via souslykitchen.app and the Sously app.

By installing, using, or purchasing features of the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) to purchase Sously Pro. The app itself is a general-audience product; if a minor uses it, an adult accepts these Terms on their behalf and is responsible for that use.

3. The App, Your Data, and No Accounts

Sously requires no account. Your saved recipes, notes, and preferences are stored locally on your device and are your responsibility. You are responsible for keeping your own backups — do not use the Service as your sole storage for recipes or content you cannot afford to lose. Uninstalling the app deletes your local data.

4. Free Tier and Pro Features

The core cook-along functionality is provided free of charge. Optional Pro features (an unlimited recipe library, parallel timers, and related extras) require a paid subscription or one-time purchase. Prices are shown at checkout in Google Play and may be changed with prospective effect; we will notify you of price changes before they apply to your next renewal.

5. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

5.1 Google Play. Sously Pro is billed through Google Play Billing. Payments, refunds, and cancellations follow Google Play's mechanics and Google's Terms of Service; refunds are handled through Google.

5.2 Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using your Google Play payment method until cancelled. You may cancel at any time in your Google Play subscriptions; cancellation stops future charges and Pro features remain available until the end of the period already paid for.

5.3 No pro-rata refunds. Except where required by law or where Google Play policy provides, we do not provide pro-rata refunds for unused portions of a billing period.

5.4 Taxes. Prices may include or exclude taxes depending on your location; applicable taxes are handled at checkout by Google where required.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

7. Your Content and Third-Party Recipes

Recipes, photos, and notes you save or import are "Your Content". You retain ownership of Your Content and are responsible for it, including ensuring you have the rights to use it. Recipe content originating from third-party websites remains the property of its respective owners; Sously displays such content for your personal cooking use only, and you may not redistribute it. The Service parses recipe metadata from links you provide and does not host third-party content.

8. Our Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and branding, is owned by Loadcircle Ltd or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose under these Terms. Nothing transfers ownership to you. Our trademarks may not be used without our prior written consent.

9. Third-Party Services and Platforms

The Service relies on and integrates with third parties, which may include Google Play Billing, RevenueCat (subscription entitlement infrastructure), Cloudflare (hosting), and your device's built-in text-to-speech services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their services, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions. We do not warrant that any third-party integration will remain available; if a provider is discontinued we will substitute a reasonable alternative or refund prepaid, unused amounts proportionally.

10. Cooking Common Sense

Sously organises, reads aloud, and times the steps of recipes you choose. It does not provide food-safety, nutritional, or health advice. Always follow safe food-handling and cooking practices, check ingredients for allergens, and use your own judgement (and your oven's) on temperatures and timings.

11. Service Availability and Changes

We work to keep the Service available but provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features with or without notice. We are not liable for downtime or data loss except as stated in these Terms or where liability cannot be excluded by law.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights you have as a consumer under applicable law that cannot be excluded, or our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, gross negligence, or wilful misconduct.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  1. neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, even if advised of the possibility;
  2. our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or USD 50.

The limitations in this Section do not apply where prohibited by applicable law (including your mandatory consumer rights) and do not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service in breach of these Terms or applicable law, or from Your Content — except to the extent caused by us.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel Pro at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms (including Acceptable Use), after notice where practicable. On termination: your licence ends, and Sections 11–14 and 16–18 survive. No refunds are due for termination caused by your breach.

16. Disputes; Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, please contact us at francis@loadcircle.co.uk and give us 30 days to resolve it informally. Subject to any non-excludable consumer rights (including recourse to your local consumer-protection body), the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. You and we both agree that claims are brought individually — you may not bring a claim as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative proceeding where this waiver is enforceable under your local law.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material and reduces your rights, we will notify you by in-product notice or on this website at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, cancel Pro and stop using the Service.

18. Miscellaneous

These Terms (with the Privacy Policy and any purchase-time disclosures) are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger or sale of the business. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
